Sting Puts Red Light On Police Reforming
The singer rejoined his former bandmates for a huge tour which ended last year, but now he's one hundred percent back into solo mode.
"It was the right time and it was a great exercise in nostalgia and a very successful one," says the star. "But would you want to keep doing that? No that would be boring."
As if to prove the point, the singer has now released a new album If On A Winter's Night, consisting mainly of ancient folky carols and lullabies, all themed around his favourite season.
"The record company would go "it's time you did a Christmas record"," Sting explains.
"But the thing is i don't really like Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, so I tried to find songs that were less known but also captured the spirit.
"I'm in a great position - i just do what i want!"
Sting may be a muti-millionaire rock star these days, but he still hasn't forgotten his roots.
He's as angry as the next Geordie about the decision by Newcastle United to rename St James' Park as Sportsdirect.com@StJames' Park Stadium. It hardly rolls off the tongue.
"No, I don't like it," Sting laughs, shaking his head, "I'm a traditionalist, you know it's St James' Park.
"Always has been, and always should be. You know Newcastle Brown Ale has moved to Yorkshire.Things are changing."
