Driving Improvement Course in Hemel Hempstead

Many accidents on the roads in Hertfordshire happen as a result of bad driving habits that have been picked up over the years.

But you can keep yourself and others safe by refreshing your skills with an advanced driving course.

Hertfordshire County Council's Road Safety Unit is running a five week course in Hemel Hempstead, which starts on Wednesday 4th November.

The classes will be held at the County Council Offices in Bringley Way in Hemel Hemnpstead between 7 - 9pm every Wednesday from the 4th November. They will end with a practical assessment and demonstration drive on Sunday 29th November at the Ramada Hotel in Hatfield.Stuart Pile is the Executive Member for Highways and Transport at the council:

"The course is very very enjoyable. The sort of stuff you learn really makes a difference to your driving on the road. I've found that you now look much further ahead, and your perception of other vehicles is now much greater.

He's already taken the course, and told Heart that not only can it make you and others safer on the road, you can also benefit financially:

"You may indeed get better deals from insurance companies. The other thing I've noticed is that you drive a lot more smoothly on the road, and you don't do fierce acceleration or braking, so you might benefit from better fuel economy, less wear and tyre on your car, and indeed less insurance premiums."

The course is available to anyone. It costs £50, which includes all textbooks and the practical assessment, with a concession rate of £40 for students and people who retired, unemployewd or receiving benefits.

For more information, or to book a place on the course, please call 01992 556818 or email driver-training@hertscc.gov.uk.
